IBM OnDemand AFP Web Viewer (Plugin) is a legacy browser plug-in used with IBM Content Manager OnDemand to view AFP (MO:DCA) documents directly in a web browser. It enables users to open archived enterprise reports—such as statements, bills, and operational print streams—while preserving fonts, overlays, barcodes, and other AFP resources. The plug-in typically works in conjunction with the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK) or an OnDemand web interface to retrieve documents from a central archive with access controls.

Key capabilities:

  • Renders AFP/MO:DCA documents with full resource support (fonts, overlays, images)
  • Page navigation, zoom, and optional thumbnails for large reports
  • In-document text search and support for index-driven retrieval
  • Printing and, where permitted by policy, download or export (for example, to PDF/TIFF)
  • Honors Content Manager OnDemand permissions and supports secure (SSL/TLS) sessions

Compatibility and deployment:

  • Designed for older Windows browsers that support plug-ins (commonly Internet Explorer/ActiveX)
  • Modern browsers have deprecated NPAPI/ActiveX; environments may require Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge or migration to a supported HTML5 viewer (for example, IBM Daeja ViewONE)
  • Typically installed via enterprise software distribution or as a signed add-on delivered by the OnDemand web application

Notes:

  • This is a legacy component. Verify your Content Manager OnDemand version and IBM support guidance before new deployments, and plan a transition path to a current, plug-in–free viewer where possible.

IBM OnDemand AFP Web Viewer (Plugin) is developed by IBM. The most popular version of this product among our users is 3.2.
